Left Uppercut. Boxing

Equipment

1

Shift your weight to your back foot, and pivot on your front foot, turning your hip and shoulder in the direction of the punch.

2

With your palm facing you, drive your left fist upward in a swift, explosive motion, aiming for your opponent's chin or body.

3

Ensure your other hand stays near your face for protection throughout the punch.

4

After throwing the uppercut, quickly retract your hand back to its starting position in front of your face, ready for the next move.

Pro Tip

**Don't Drop Your Hand:** A common mistake is dropping the hand before throwing an uppercut. This can leave you open for a counter punch. Instead, keep your hand up protecting your face until the moment you decide to throw the punch. **Use Your Legs and Hips:** Power in boxing comes from the ground up, so use your legs and hips when throwing an uppercut. When you throw the left uppercut, bend your knees slightly and push off your left foot, rotating your left hip forward. This will provide more power and help protect you from counter punches
